National Literacy Trust is an independent charity dedicated to giving children experiencing disadvantage the literacy skills they need to succeed. Young City Poets is a large multi-city, multi-year programme bringing together the strengths of local poets, cultural/arts venues and teachers in three cities across England. The programme aims to inspire and develop students’ sense of achievement and pride in creative writing, by providing enjoyable, memorable experiences and by enhancing schools’ approaches to teaching poetry within the curriculum.

Outside In aims to provide a platform for artists who face significant barriers to the art world due to health, disability, social circumstance or isolation. Their work includes artist development, exhibitions and training, which aim to create a fairer art world by supporting artists, creating opportunities and influencing arts organisations. This £1 million grant will be split in two halves: £500,000 toward an existing endowment to underpin the organisation’s
work with artists and £100,000 per year (indexed on inflation) for five years towards core costs.

Amgueddfa Cymru is a family of seven museums located throughout Wales. The Parent House aims to reduce poverty and social inequality for families living in Islington. It supports parents who can choose from a range of accredited vocational and education courses to suit their goals and receive one-to-one support, mentoring and access to the on-site creche while they study and build confidence as they become part of a supportive and inclusive network of parents and workers and gain access to help with specific needs like housing and debt management.

Help on Your Doorstep aims to improve the health and wellbeing of people in Islington, especially those who are vulnerable and isolated. This grant will support the organisation to work alongside Islington residents and local service providers to improve lives, enhance wellbeing and strengthen communities through a range of Good Neighbour schemes which support individuals to gain more control and connect with local services. It also mobilises residents to work together to address local priority issues such as isolation, debt management and housing.

Body & Soul supports children, young people and families whose lives have been affected by childhood adversity and trauma. The organisation uses a ‘whole person’ model of care rooted in a strengths-based approach that nurtures connection, healing and growth. Over the next two years, the organisation plans to expand their adoption programme to children under special guardianship orders, support parents whose children have attempted suicide, and launch mental health training in schools.
